Since 2020, Weingut Nehrer has been run by Johannes, who returned to the family estate in St. Georgen, Burgenland, after his studies and international experience.

Under Johannes, Chardonnay and Blaufränkisch have taken an increasingly central role, while the unique character of the vineyards is brought to the fore. He is also chairman of the Leithaberg DAC association and committed to developing the region’s identity. Tradition lives on, but with a curiosity to constantly explore and evolve. For Johannes, wine should above all be something that brings people together.

To Bar Astell we bring a range of wines from Weingut Nehrer, with extra focus on Johannes’ favourite grapes – Chardonnay and Blaufränkisch. Wines that reflect Leithaberg’s unique terroir, where limestone, mica schist and a cool climate leave their mark. With minimal intervention and great respect for origin, Johannes lets the soil and the vintage speak for themselves.
